Nau mai haere mai, welcome to Rutherford Street Kindergarten | Te Puna Kōhungahunga o Piki Mai
We provide a warm, inclusive and nurturing environment where tamariki are supported to feel a strong sense of belonging, wellbeing and confidence as learners.
Each day offers opportunities to create, imagine, investigate, move, communicate and connect with others. Our kaiako take time to know each child and support their individual interests, strengths and ways of learning.
Whānau are an important part of kindergarten life. We value open communication and work alongside families to help tamariki feel settled, supported and secure in their sense of belonging.
Learning Through Play
Play is at the heart of everyday life at RSK. Tamariki have time and space to follow their curiosity, revisit ideas, take manageable risks and become deeply involved in experiences that interest them.
Across our indoor and outdoor environment, children can explore creative materials, sensory play, construction, movement, storytelling, nature, imaginative play and much more. Kaiako join children in their learning, offering encouragement, conversation and thoughtful support while allowing their ideas and independence to grow.
No two days look exactly the same. Our programme develops in response to the tamariki who are here, the questions they are exploring and the experiences they bring from home and their wider world.
